Ask Lothíriel: Lothiriel awoke promptly at sunrise to find several maids flitting...

ask-eomer:

ask-lothiriel:

Lothiriel awoke promptly at sunrise to find several maids flitting about her bedchamber. She had a minor headache, probably from the stress she had felt last night. Momentarily confused, she massaged her temples to see her wedding ring. Oh! She sat bolt upright. Today is your wedding, silly.

Eomer had woken up rather early that morning, not being able to sleep due to the nervesness he was having. Most of the time he was awake all he could think of was that he would be marrying the love of his life soon, and soon they would start their lives, as one. When he final woke up to start his day the sun had yet to rise, and the chamber maids had not yet stirred to prepare Eomer for the rest of the day.

When he managed to get out of bed he quietly made his way to the kitchen to grab breakfast before it became hectic in the kitchen, since they would have to start early on preparing for the feast. He grabbed an apple, and some hot cider. He ate and drank his cider on the way back to his room. By the time he reached the door he finally her the chamber maids preparing, and this time the sun had just risen. He enter to see one maid preparing a bath and the other setting out his clothes. “My king, we were worried you had gotten cold feet and ran off!” the older maid has said. “Nonsense I would never do such a thing, I was merely grabbing a light breakfast and making it easier on you.” She nodded and mentioned that everything was ready for him. He nodded back and thanked them for their help.

He made his way to the King’s chamber bath, he had stripped down so he could be able to indulge in the warth of the water to help ease his nerves. He laid in the water for some time after bathing, just relaxing. After awhile he left and start to put on his royal clothing, he thought this is a rather interesting wardrove for such occasions. He picked up the green tunic that laid in front of him, very more regal then what he use to. He finally changed in to his outfit, a green tunic with gold designs on the collar and seams, brown trousers, dark brown vest with a gold belt on top, with rather intricate designs. He walked over to his fire place and sat down in his chair to put on his boots, after he did that he sat and thought out loud. “Today is the day,”

Final preparations were made, and after several more minutes of fussing and prodding, Lothiriel was deemed ready for the ceremony. Smoothing down the front and skirt of her dress, Lothiriel gazed into the mirror poised near her bedside. Thoughts of her mother passed through her head and tears threatened to creep from her eyes. What would she think of the gown? Or of Éomer and her moving to Rohan? No. You are to be Queen of Rohan, and you will not cry on your wedding day. Not over something that happened so long ago. She knew the answers she would get if a comment were to be made. Small comforts and courtesies; the same sympathetic eyes that had watched her for small signs of breaking every time a celebration or milestone was reached.

Shaking her head she brought herself back to the room. To her wedding day. Her father would be here momentarily, that she knew. Her brothers Erchirion and Amrothos would be waiting at the ceremony about now. Probably laughing at the fuss being made about her. Or making some cutting remarks to Éomer. They’d always been to protective from suitors, and had wit sharp as their swords. They didn’t scare Éomer off, though she thought happily to herself, He has a way of getting whatever he asks for.

She had heard that her eldest brother Elphir would be staying back at in Dol Amroth to govern the people in her father’s absence, but intended to visit in the coming summer when things had settled. She looked forward to that. A small token from home to check up on her. With the Dimholt road being reopened to renew the trade between Gondor and Rohan, the travelling time would be reduced considerably.

A sharp knock at the door snapped her focus back. With heart speeding up a bit, her father entered the room. Cool and collected. He would be here to fetch her. Nerves were refreshed and she felt a strain behind her eyes and a distinct pinching on her nose as tears threatened to wreck what little composure she had left. You will not cry, you will not cry.

“Ada..”

“My lady!”one of the chambermaids said softly, pulling her from the thoughts flying through her mind,“You are awake! Good! We’ve brought you some breakfast, and after that Lady Éowyn will be here to help see you through getting ready..” she stepped aside to show a tray of creamy porridge and fruit. I’m not hungry, was her initial thought. Rising from the warm covers she walked over to the table and sat down. Someone started brushing her hair and some of the girls were humming a sweet Rohirric melody while filling up a washing basin with steaming water.

After finishing the few small bites of food that were manageable, she walked behind the dressing screen and submerged under the warm water. It felt good to be under the water, and in a way reminded her of her home back in Dol Amroth, with the swimming and hot springs located around the caves of their palace.. she would be trading the rolling waves for rolling plains now, she thought happily. A knock at her door came just as she had risen and dried off from the bath.

“Lothiriel!!”Éowyn said, giggling and running over. After Éomer had announced their betrothal, the two women had taken up a long-distance correspondence. Éowyn had married one of her dearest cousins and now she was going to be marrying this shield-maiden’s brother! She liked how straight-to-the-point Éowyn was about things and was very glad to have her company throughout the last weeks of her wedding planning.

The two sat down to chat as one of the maids set on her hair. She had been told that they were going to be braiding parts of it loosely but leaving it mostly down (“He’ll have an easier time taking it down that way!” Éowyn had said with a wink). In what seemed like no time at all they had pulled out the wedding gown, and were helping her into it. Slowly, she was garbed in a gown truly fit for.. well, a Queen. Could the wait really be over? She wondered what Éomer was up to at this moment and how he was feeling.

Lothiriel had hung back in her rooms the night before her wedding. She had longed for her mother’s guidance and wisdom that would be helpful with what would be… occurring around this time the following night, but that could not be. Sure, she had some of the women in her life give her a very limited discussion on the subject, but she was still a bit nervous. Hopefully no one would be able to notice..

As tradition dictated, she would not be able to see Éomer until tomorrow, when she and her father entered the Great Hall in front of all to see. This thought did not help the queasiness that already sat in her stomach, but she pushed that aside. She really needed to try and calm herself down. This is Éomer you’re talking about, she reminded herself, pushing out of her sitting chair and walking absent-mindedly to the mirror situated across the room. You love him, and he loves you. There is nothing to be worried about.

She looked at her reflection in the mirror. For one of the few times in her life she scrutinized her appearance. Grey eyes looked back at her and she realized that she looked tired. She would definitely need her rest for her big day tomorrow. And night, some small voice whispered in the back of her mind. She bit her lip in thought, tugging at her chemise. Shaking her head a small smile tugged at her lips. Surely this was something to look forward to, rather than to be concerned about. She then called her kind maid Aelfgyth in to plait her hair. The elder woman spoke soft words to her and patted her back, “Off to bed now, Princess. Pleasant dreams..” This did manage to calm her down, and sleep she did, dreaming of far off fields and picnics in the grass with Eomer. Yes, tomorrow was a cause for celebration indeed.

Lothiriel had ventured on a walk that night. Her days had been long filled with final preparations for the wedding, and she much desired some of the seclusion that came from a walk outdoors. The sun had begun to set later, and it also meant that her wedding would be arriving…

“He might be busy..” she said quietly to herself, for it was still a fair bit early in the day, “And you would not want to disturb him.” Lothiriel had stopped and sat down in the small garden off by the kitchens. Fragrant herbs wafted towards her and she settled by a small fountain, relaxing under the cool air. She eyed the fountain curiously, and decided to remove her slippers and dip her feet in. Her eyes lit up as the cool water splashed her feet and she laughed as her toes passed to and fro, churning up bubbles as they went.

Eomer had made his way outside, in his attempt to find Lothiriel. He looked around the courtyard and did not happen to see her. He almost decided to turn around and check inside thinking he probably had missed her in there, but he heard laughing off in the distance, and it sounded an awful lot like Lothiriel’s laugh. He had followed the laugh to the small little garden of to the side and he spotted her playing lightly in the fountain. He walked to the small garden only a few paces seperated him to her. “Now what have you gotten into today?” he said lightly.

It felt good to let some of the stress from the past few days slip off her shoulders. Lothiriel spun around when she heard someone speaking to her. “Éomer!” she said happily, accidentally dropping the sides of her dress that had been bunched in her hands. “I have been busy most of the day.. I thought going for a walk would be nice,” she said while smiling, the hem of her dress floating atop the shallow water.

Eomer smiled when he saw her spin around and seemed happy to see him. “Well I do not blame you. I luckily got done with everything early for the day.” He walked up next to her and looked down to see the bottom of her dress floating in the water. “Your dress is gotten a tad wet my love.” He said pointing down to her dress. He sat down next to her, and lightly placed a kiss on her forehead. “I have missed spending time with you.”

She looked down at the bottom of her skirt which was soaked through with the cold water. ”Indeed.. It would seem that it has,” a laugh escaped her lips. Regretfully; it had been too long since they had spent genuine time with one another. ”Fortunately, two days from now it shall be all about you and I,” she said, placing her head on his shoulder.

In two days time they would be wed and it could not come soon enough. “Ah, yes and that will be the happiest day of my life.” Within the wedding approaching nervousness and excitment had taken over him, but when the day comes it will all pay off and he will forever be happy again. He took his hand into Lothiriel’s and laced his fingers with hers. “I still can’t believe it will be in two days we shall be married.”

Lothiriel nodded, “Two days left.. And it seems like it has been a long time waiting,” she confessed. Guests had been coming to the Golden Hall from Gondor and the East and West Mark, and every place you could stay was being filled so all could catch a glimpse of their King’s nuptials. Everywhere Lothiriel turned there was some distant relation or another small thing to do, but her friends and family had been working away hard to prepare for the wedding. His hand took her own and she smiled up at him. “Two days..” she whispered.

Anonymous whispered, "I'm anxious for your wedding day. I think that you will make a stunning bride."

Oh.. *Blushes* Thank you.

I am quite excited, as well.
